Eco-Crimes – Of dangerous gases and ruthless smugglers

It is an organized crime, just as lucrative as the drug trade, but hardly anyone knows about it: the smuggling of refrigerants, so-called HFCs. The legal trade with these gases is being increasingly restricted because they are extremely harmful to the climate. This makes the black market for HFCs lucrative. However, environmental activists, European authorities and special police units have taken up the fight against chemical smuggling.
