Welcome to Längengrad Filmproduktion

Captivating images, in-depth research, and gripping dramaturgy characterise our documentaries. We at Längengrad make films that tell stories – stories that aim to inform and educate. They shed light on interconnections and stimulate, motivate – and sometimes even provoke – viewers to think about issues. For us, that means entertainment in the truest sense of the word. It’s our absolute conviction that films with relevant content can reach a wide audience – if they’re well made. We focus on the fields of science, medicine, the environment, wildlife, globalisation and current affairs.

Award-winning documentaries

We aim to broaden horizons and pose searching questions. We are interested in the latest scientific developments, as well as in economic and political issues. We passionately challenge preconceptions and equally passionately point towards possible solutions. We search out surprising perspectives, discover unique landscapes and let people tell their stories, in all their adversity and with all their courage, sense of responsibility and resourcefulness. And so far our documentaries have garnered more than 50 national and international awards, including Germany’s prestigious Grimme Prize and, on two occasions, the Bavarian Television Prize.

Stunning images

In our work, we have the support of highly experienced camera crews using the most up-to-date equipment, as well as the editing suites of the Gizmo postproduction company, based in our own offices. Whether with HD or 4K, using drones or stabilised footage from helicopters and light aircraft, with gimbal filming, moving timelapse or state-of-the-art animation – we constantly take advantage of the very latest technology.

Our customers

Our television productions are mainly commissioned by the public broadcasting corporations of Germany and France. Our films are often made together with international partners, European funding agencies or in coproduction. The choice of subject and the style of our films often appeal to a global audience. Many of our documentaries are distributed internationally and are shown at prestigious film festivals.
