The Bicycle Battle

PARIS v. BERLIN

Paris and Berlin have an ambitious goal: following the example of Copenhagen, both cities are vying to become Europe’s bicycle capital. Paris has its “Plan Vélo” to combat particulate matter and traffic gridlock. But the city has a deficit: far fewer cyclists than in Berlin. There, the implementation of a cycling statute is in dispute, while accidents are on the increase. What inducements are the cities devising for a clean and safe two-wheeler future? A head-to-head race for the title of bicycle capital is underway.
