Eco-Crimes – The hunt for pirate fishermen

A huge, multi-national fleet of illegal fishing vessels is plundering the seas – with no regard for fishing quotas or protected areas. It is a war against nature, against governments and against honest fishermen. But how can the billion-dollar business of organized pirate fishing be effectively combated? This documentary shows that many coastal states are barely able to defend themselves against the theft of their fish stocks. This is why nature conservation organizations are increasingly stepping in to take over public duties. And not only in the waters of poor countries, but also off Germany’s coast.
