Career killer child?
WHEN FEMALE DOCTORS WANT TO REACH THE TOP
Two thirds of medical students are women – but they rarely make it to the top. Just 13 percent of management positions in university medicine are held by women. Mothers have a particularly hard time: they are usually no longer allowed to work when they become pregnant – and their training comes to a standstill. The daycare center doesn’t care about unplanned emergencies, working from home is not possible, night shifts, constant overtime and rigid structures add to this. Filmmakers Valerie Henschel and Anabel Münstermann spent many months following three female doctors who want to make a career in their dream job – and are or want to become mothers at the same time. A hospital career and children – is it possible?
