Rainforest Revival

REFORESTATION AND NATURE CONSERVATION IN THE TROPICS

In the past, ecologists agreed: once cleared, tropical forests could not be reforested. But today, there are methods and strategies to heal the destruction of the past. In Costa Rica and on Borneo, biodiverse habitats have already emerged, where big cats and orangutans once again have a future. Rainforests are also an important economic resource. A project in the Republic of Congo proves that it is possible to use them responsibly – and that more gorillas and forest elephants can survive there than in neighbouring regions.

Frank Nischk’s film presents surprising concepts for preserving these unique tropical forests.
