Good News from Planet Earth – How we protect nature

Nature and human beings – many people see them as in conflict because humans rob animals and plants of their habitats. But it can be different – surprisingly different. Sometimes it’s human beings who actually enable animals and plants to survive. In the Republic of the Congo it’s the work of loggers that protects the gorillas living in the rain forests. And the biodiversity of the Alps can only be preserved as long as the farmers continue to drive their livestock up into the mountains. At Lake Constance a dedicated ornithologist is succeeding not only in halting the decline in bird numbers caused by intensive farming but actually encouraging more bird species to reestablish themselves in the region. These inspiring stories show just how worthwhile it is to be actively committed to the future of our blue planet.
